Vandalism, looting and arson attempt at the house of Sunamganj District Chhatra League Vice President Junaid Ahmod
An attempt was made to vandalize, loot and set fire to the house of District Chhatra League Vice President Junaid Ahmod in Sunamganj.

Witnesses said that the incident took place at around 9 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the Hasonnagar, Prantik/36, R/A, Sunamganj Sadar, Sunamganj district.
On the spot, it was seen that the entire city was in a state of shock due to the attack, vandalism and arson at four places within a radius of about 500 yards.
At that time, there was no electricity in various areas across the district city for an hour.
Many people were seen attacking the house of District Chhatra League Vice President Junaid Ahmod and taking some belongings. However, no police action was observed. Witnesses including Afsar Ali Akbar said that hundreds of angry students and public attacked the mural on Thursday afternoon. Taking advantage of this, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists vandalized the house of Sunamganj District Chhatra League Vice-President Junaid Ahmod and attempted to set fire to it, and finally looted it.
It is learned that Junaid Ahmod is currently staying in the UK. As Junaid's mobile was switched off, our correspondent was unable to contact him on his mobile phone.
In addition, the mural of Sheikh Mujib in Pakundia Municipality Sadar Bazar and the mural of Sheikh Mujib and four former presidents were vandalized at the Cinema Hall intersection in Bajitpur Municipality Sadar Bazar.
Earlier on Wednesday night, the agitating students and public set fire to the Awami League party office on Station Road in the district town, declared it a public toilet, and entered the city by breaking the gate lock of the Liberation War Office in Kharampatti area and vandalized the mural of Sheikh Mujib.
However, the places where the attacks and vandalism took place on Wednesday and Thursday night were also attacked and vandalized before after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Khaled Chowdhury said at around 10:45 pm that he has come to know about the attacks and vandalism at several places, including the house of Chhatra League leader Junaid Ahmod. An inquiry is being conducted into the matter.
